On June 1, 2006, MERCANDIA could celebrate its 40th anniversary, and the winding up of the Danish shipping interests had come to an end. Consequently, MERCANDIA's headquarter was moved from Prags Boulevard on the island of Amager to Per Henriksen's private house.

Also in 2006 the SHIPOWNER PER HENRIKSEN, R, AND WIFE FOUNDATION was established. The aim is a capital amounting to DKK one thousand million, and the purposes and objectives are, e.g., the following:

• To support the Royal Orphanage (Det Kongelige Vajsenhus) and its pupils
• To support Danish citizens, who undeservedly have financial problems that are not caused by earlier days' excess in eating and drinking etc.
• To support persons, who suffer from heart and lung diseases and/or diabetes
• To support private research concentrating on heart and lung diseases and in particular diabetes
• To support research within animal welfare and reporters of cruelty to animals
• To support impecunious persons, when their pets need veterinary care

NB:    Attention is called to the fact that the foundation's activities do not begin, until Per Henriksen as well as his wife have left this world.

MERCANDIA's main activities today are sale and purchase of Danish and foreign stocks and bonds, so that the fortune of the above-mentioned foundation will be as large as possible.

Another important MERCANDIA-activity is to maintain and expand the ancient manor, LYNGSBÆKGAARD, which is located in Jutland.
