LYNGSBÆKGAARD MANOR
is located in one of the most attractive parts of Denmark, close to a planned national park

ACTIVITIES

Lyngsbækgaard is run as a modern agricultural centre with emphasis on animal welfare and high quality products.

The primary production is beef cattle of the "Blonde d'Aquitaine" breed. The meat is extremely low on fat, only 2-3%, and also very tender. Lyngsbækgaard has a cattle stock of approximately 300 heads and 50 sheep, and the number is increasing.

The manor's 190 hectares of forest are used for traditional forestry and Christmas tree production. Furthermore the manor has approximately 6 hectares of meadowland and 43 hectares of plough land with different grain crops.

HISTORY

Lyngsbækgaard in its current form dates back to 1784, but parts of the manor can be traced back to the 13th century. The main house is built on the foundations of a previous building from the 15th century, the remains of which are still visible in the basement area.

In 1984 Mr. Per Henriksen acquired the old manor, and since then much effort and money have gone into restoring the buildings. Today the manor looks almost exactly like it did in 1784. The interior, however, has been brought up-to-date with indoor plumbing, heating, and other modern facilities.

The old timber-framed barn has one of the largest thatched roofs in Denmark. The adjoining, also timber-framed stables have been fully renovated, although they are no longer used for the live stock, as the buildings are highly inflammable.

Out of concern for the animals a new stable was built in 1992. It is in the old style, but made from non-inflammable materials. The interior is highly modern with video surveillance of the animals and an operating section for e.g. Caesarean operations.
